What would life be without dancing? Things would be too sad, serious, and tense. Sometimes we just need to let loose, feel the groove to the music, and dance.
There is a reason why we get so happy when we dance, and this goes for everyone. According to Dr. Peter Lovatt, “The exercise and emotional responses to the music we're hearing can increase the release of dopamine in different parts of the brain. As dopamine levels go up, we can shake off some of those negative feelings and float into a euphoric state.”
By listening to music and letting your body move freely and naturally to the beat can do so much as curing your anxiety and depression.
The reason why I dance competitively is that it is also a way to be creative and tell a story. It is a performing art, and with that, you can create any move by going along with the beat and moving in unique ways.
Sometimes when I am performing a dance to a sad, touching, song, I get emotional because I am also telling a sad story. Dancers are actresses, but by performing in only movements and facial expressions. When you get into it and feel connected to every movement you do to each word, you feel like you are in the story that the song/dance is telling. There is no better feeling than telling your own story by performing with your friends on stage.
Even if you don’t dance competitively, you still know the feeling you get when you dance. Isn’t it amazing? Letting go, naturally swaying to a beat, or going crazy with your friends and dancing around your room all together. It’s good for the brain, your mental health, dopamine level, heart rate, blood, muscles, and overall physical figure. It has so many positive effects and is simply one of the most fun things you can do, which is why I take it to a whole new level.
Dancing competitively is the best decision I have made in my entire life. I didn’t do it because I was naturally an insanely good dancer, or naturally flexible. I did it because I loved to dance, and I knew I had the potential to become an amazing dancer if I worked hard enough.
To be completely honest, it was very difficult to continue dancing, especially when I moved to a more advanced studio when I was 15. This studio pushed me to be the absolute best that I can be, because they know all their dancers have potential, especially the new ones. However, since my love continued for it, I never lost hope, even though many skills were hard for me to master.
As time went on, I improved immensely as a dancer. I earned a spot on the highest team because I worked my butt off to get there. My passion for dance never faded, and by accomplishing my goals, it got even stronger.
I am insanely happy that I never gave up dance, even when things were tough. I kept pushing because the happiness that it gives me cannot be replaced with anything else. Dance will always be a part of my life because of the endless joy it brings me, so if you haven’t danced in a while, bust a move today and see how great it feels!

I am not on a dance team, but I do like to dance. It feels good, it's a fun way to get exercise as well. For me, when I really get into a daydream while listening to music, I sometimes try to dance in a way that mimics what's happening in my head. It's a lot of fun. Also, from what I've read in your story, it sounds like this is something you are very passionate about and having a passion for something is good in life. I hope you continue to dance, whether you continue on in a team or not.
